Post LE versions of Uniques in Freakshow? Reply with quote
It looks like we have 4 LEs as we have for the past two sets, that is, 4 LE versions of Uniques from the set. They are:

200 Bull = LE version of Elephant Man
201 Miss Slyther = LE version of Snake Charmer
202 Tunnel Terror
203 Billy Stank = LE version of Johnny Dead

Anyone know/have a guess on who the Tunnel Terror is a LE version of?

Hearteater. The numbering of the LE's typically follow the same ordre as their non-LE cousins, so Hearteater's the only option. Plus, they're both Hellbound.

Wow, all this time, I never realized they followed a pattern. That makes perfect sense. Thanks, Aahz. Smile

Huh, I wouldn't have guessed that.

I would have guessed Tunnel Terror = LE version of Funhouse since they both sound like places more then people.

Also, I would have guessed LE Bull was the Tracker.

Yeah, I'm really curious as to what the Funhouse is...

I guessed Bull based on a bull elephant.

Hearteater sounds more like a humanoid monster and Tunnel Terror more like some kind of inhuman monster to me, so I never figured would have guessed they were similar.

Didn't think of that.

You know, I don't care which uniques they are, I just hope they're better then the Lab LE's. I really felt that three of the four weren't worth getting if you already had the normal U.

I figured it was Hearteater, since it's abilities (as well as how heart-eating demons tend to hunt in the genre) fit really well.

I wouldnt have guessed that without the numbering. A heart eating demon and a terrible underground dwelling monster sound completly different.

Angelique was by far my favorite of the LEs in the set, and I suspect the one you feel is worth getting even if you have her corresponding unique. I like them all, but I'd agree that many are very similar to their unique counterparts.

I am surprized that we didn't get a LE version of the Ring Master as he's basically the mascot for the set.

Agreed, as I was surprised that there was not an LE for Dire Werewolf, and Doctor Von Raechter. I considered them to be the mascots to their respective sets.

I also wondered why they did not paint the LE's differently from the unique counterparts. My guess is cost.

I hadn't thought about that before, but I'd definately agree.

I'm not sure what the rule of thumb is for the creation of LEs. It could be that two or more designers proposed different versions of a single unique, and the ones that aren't selected for the set are the ones that make it as LEs. Maybe in the case of the Dire Werewolf and Doc Von Raechter and the Ring Master, the designers couldn't think of an alternative way to do the figures as they came out the way they were first imagined.

In Heroclix, and LE is sometimes an entirely different character with the same sculpt. Like Skymax and Super Skrull. Or it could be a representation of a particular time in that character's life. Maybe they couldn't find a different interpretation of the stats or a different identity for certain figs like Dire Werewolf.

In Dire Werewolf's case, they could have called him Alpha male or something, supped-up his stats, and painted him black. Possibilities are only limited by imagination in this game. There aren't any hard guidelines that need to be followed. i.e. Clark Kent being the LE version of Superman and so on. I mean a werewolf should act like a werewolf so there are some guidelines, but after that, anything is possible.

Or they could have made a fig of that Dire Werewolf in the flavor text in one of the Base Set plot twists, was it Bitter Hatred?

Exactly. That?s on of the reasons why I think Horrorclix is a better game that Heroclix. It?s only limited by imagination.

Not that I wouldn't have wanted an LE Dire Werewolf (if for no other reason then we could use more werewolfs) but I always thought the Avatar of Cthulhu was the mascot of the base set. He was one of the four booster covers and linked to the big con exculsive that year. I agree with Doctor Von Raechter though.

I didn't make any of the conventions last year due to the birth of my son. So, I didn't see any of the convention advertisements. The Dire Werewolf, however, was in the magazine adds, on the boosters, and on the cover of the rulebook. That's where I based my opinion.

With all the hype of Cthulhu, and the Avatar being the most desired figure (prerelease), I understand why you would think that way. You could even make an argument for Razor Vixen.

Tunnel Terror = the Tunnel of Love the Hearteater resides in.

Lots of terror for couples in love entering that!

Razz
